Hi, I've gotten a few request for instructions on
removing the white spacer. While Justin seems to
be our actual mechanic on this web site, I will be
putting together detailed, step by step instructions
on how I did the job. I don't pretend to an authority
on motorcycle mechanics, but I've done a fair amount
of tooling on bikes. there may be other ways of removing the
spacer than my method, but it seemed to go fairly
smoothly. It took about 4 hrs. Others I'm sure can
do it much faster. I hope to have the instuctions
on this site by the end of the week (time permiting) with
actual scanned in photos from the clymer manual (If that's legal).
I will ask Bert Heise to post the instructions as soon
as he can (he's always busy too). I have really enjoyed
the bike since taking the spacer out. I can really feel
the difference in acceleration up to 65mph, and much
less backfiring. Please remember though, I have also
installed an afermarket pipe and re-jetted the carb. Removing
the spacer has made the biggest difference.
